WHAT DOES YOUR JOB INVOLVE?
I am responsible for the Classic Hits brand, both on air and online. That means I make sure the announcers are doing the right things, help choose the music, oversee promotions, make sure the right content is being delivered online, and ensure everything we do is focused on getting our target audience listening and involved with Classic Hits.
HOW DID YOU LAND YOUR JOB?
I started working for The Radio Network in Christchurch after studying at the New Zealand Broadcasting School in Christchurch. I started as an announcer, then moved in to promotions & programming. I moved into management four years ago.
IS THERE ANYTHING YOU DON’T LIKE ABOUT YOUR JOB?
There are always parts of any job you don’t like – but in this job there aren’t many things. Probably the worst part is doing lots of paperwork!
WHAT ARE THE BEST PERKS ABOUT YOUR JOB?
I get to work with some amazing people and go to lots of free concerts. I’ve also met some incredible performers, including Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, The Rolling Stones, Coldplay, Ed Sheerhan, Justin Timberlake, Lily Allen, One Republic, Taylor Swift, and Beyonce.
WHAT’S THE HARDEST PART?
Managing people – everyone is different and needs to approached accordingly. In a large team you never feel like you spend enough time with anyone.
